    Approximate ion exchange resin weight required for various refillable filter cartridges is provided below.

    • 2" x 10" inline filter cartridge = 0.5 lbs.
    • 2.5" x 12" inline filter cartridge = 0.8 lbs
    • 2.5" x 10" filter cartridge for Slimline housings = 1.25 Lbs

    Unlike most mixed bed ion exchange resins,UPWG mixed bed Di provides a true indication of filter media exhaustion. Why? Ion exchange resin manufacturers typically attach dye to only one resin component (anion or cation) while our resin has dye bound to both.

    UPWG mixed bed  ion exchange resins are used for applications where extremely high water purity is required, such as pharmaceutical manufacture and semiconductors, and is manufactured to ensure exceptionally low levels of total organic carbon (TOCs) leaching into the RO water.  Incorporated as a post Reverse Osmosis filter, 99.9995% pure water is achievable. We use the media in all our drinking water reverse osmosis systems, as well as high end saltwater/reef aquarium systems. The water quality, after ion exchange, approaches 18.2 MOhm-cm, the highest water purity achievable.  The resin is particularly effective for the removal of anionic components such as dissolved carbon dioxide and typically has 30% higher capacity than normal mixed bed resins.  UPWG mixed bed is well suited for the water quality requirements of saltwater and reef aquarium enthusiasts, or anyone desiring ultrapure water.


    A 39:61 volume ratio of a ResinTech CG8-H-ID hydrogen form strong acid cation resin (purple colored) and ResinTech SBGP-OH-ID hydroxide form type 1 strong base anion resin(blue colored). UPWG mixed bed capacity mixed bed resin utilizes a pH indicator dye in the cation and anion component that changes color from purple/deep blue to amber as the resin exhausts. Intended for use in applications where a color indication of resin exhaustion is desired and the water contains elevated levels of dissolved anion contaminants (dissolved carbon dioxide, carbonates, sulfates). Supplied ready to use with the cation component in the hydrogen form and the anion component in the hydroxide form.
